SMC intern to compete in Miss Rodeo North Dakota

It is never a given or an automatic when it comes to knowing where a person’s true talent may reside.
But in the case of Sakakawea Medical Center’s occupational therapy intern Brittany Schock, her professional skill sets have been on display at SMC since August.
However, her personal talents will be showcased October 9-12 in Minot when she will compete for the coveted title of Miss Rodeo North Dakota in the state pageant against five other contestants.
The pageant will be held in conjunction with the Badlands Rodeo Circuit Finals, and this will literally not be the first ‘rodeo’ for the affable Schock.
Now 24, Schock claimed her first rodeo queen title as a sophomore in high school, then became Miss Silver Creek Rodeo as part of the Silver Creek Pro Circuit.
But in 2010, Schock felt the intense disappointment of winning the first-runner up spot in the Miss Rodeo North Dakota Pageant. That disappointment, she suggested, has been a motivating source as she prepares for 2014.
“I should have won it,” Schock, a native of Mandan, recalled. “I was so disappointed. I’m looking forward to this year. This is the big one where the winner will represent the sport of rodeo and the state of North Dakota.”
