Stanton council approves sewer and street projects

By Daniel Arens
Stanton residents packed the civic center along Harmon Avenue (or Main Street) last Tuesday evening to voice their concerns and opinions as the city council members moved forward on their final decisions for two large city projects.
Stanton Mayor Ron Boyko provided some history and context for the projects, which began with a consideration of doing major street repairs in town and was then expanded to include sewer work, since it made sense to do that when the streets were already being dug up.
While hearing many concerns from residents, the city council ultimately took action on approving both a sewer and a street project. Combined, the total cost for the two is estimated to be about $3 million, with $1.9 million for the street project and a little over $1 million for the sewer.
