Stanton gears up for celebration

It’s the second year of the Two Rivers Festival, and the hope is to build upon the successes of last year’s event.
In 2018, Stanton held its first Two Rivers Festival, a revised version of the traditional Knife River Days event held annually in the city. The festival, which runs the first weekend in August, is one of the largest events of the year for the small town.
There is one major difference from last year’s event, however. This year, there won’t be an “Old Man and Kid” fishing derby Sunday. Although that derby has never been officially part of the festival, being its own event, it has for many years been held the same weekend.
“While [the festival] is pretty much the same, they’re not having the fishing derby this summer, which is kind of sad,” Wanda Knutson, one of the organizers of the Two Rivers Festival, said.
