State undertakes testing priorities in Mercer County

By Daniel Arens
Over the last two weeks, the North Dakota State Department of Health has begun its testing process for the novel COVID-19 in Mercer County.
However, the testing at this point is not for anyone in the public. Because of the limited amount of testing equipment, and the need to adequately and accurately process the testing data, the state is approaching the testing in a series of waves.
The first round, completed over the last couple weeks, involved testing emergency responders (law enforcement, firefighters and ambulance workers) and staff and residents at senior living facilities (Knife River Care Center and Senior Suites). Oliver County emergency responders were also tested last week.
