Storm downs tree branches, power lines throughout county

The Guenthners know all too well the power of a lightning strike.

About seven years ago, their Hazen home was struck by lightning, blowing plaster off the inside walls and frying their TV, VCR, telephone and microwave. The surge of volts blew out of an outside power outlet.

"We didn’t have a lightning clause in our insurance then, but now we do," Bennie Guenthner said.
