National certification for meat shop [Jan. 10]
J & J Hazen Meats achieved their certification from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), after working for many months prior to achieve this goal.
The certification allows the butcher shop to buy local beef and other animal produce and process it right here in Hazen.
Several opportunities rose for the meat shop as a result. One development later in 2019 was an agreement with Richard Scheid and D’Andrea’s, where Scheid provides local meat from his ranch, which is then processed at J & J Hazen Meats and delivered to the restaurant for customers to enjoy.
