The Christmas message in song

By Daniel Arens

This weekend, singers from around the area are coming together once again for a concert to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas.
The Knife River Chorale has performed every December for the last 62 years. Each year, singers begin practicing in October, meeting once a week to rehearse choral renditions of Christmas carols and songs.
Performances will be held at the Hazen High School Theater Dec. 8 and 9. The Saturday concert will be at 7:30 p.m. and the Sunday performance at 3 p.m.
The concert features a director who is relatively new to the chorale. Phillip Voeller, the choir teacher at Beulah High School, got involved with the chorale last year, directing the cantata portion of the concert and singing with the other pieces.
