Mother Nature didn't want to ruin the Hazen Centennial. Instead she waited until Monday to release her wrath, bringing high winds that left the city littered with trees and garbage.
“There is damage everywhere,” Mercer County Sheriff Dean Danzeisen said Tuesday.
The storm hit Hazen at approximately 9:30 p.m. with winds up to 80 mph, according to the National Weather Service in Bismarck. Severe thunderstorms traveled across western North Dakota pass Highway 83. The Quenette Weather Station in Hazen recorded 0.36 inches of rain. The sirens sounded to warn people of high winds and hail.
