The deal clincher: A place to park

By Daniel Arens
Vacancy is rapidly turning into bookings in one Hazen residential facility.
For a long time after the Hazen Pioneer Apartment building was completed nearly two years ago, only a single resident was living at the facility, designed for low-income senior housing.
In recent months, however, that number has surged. According to Greg McCarthy, 15 people are now staying at the apartment building, slightly below maximum occupancy of 18 rooms.
There are several reasons for the sudden turnaround and busyness in the building. But one reason is a planned-for benefit to residents that is only now being realized: the building of garage stalls for vehicles east of the actual facility and parking lot.
