Wanted – extra warm, dry sunny days before harvest
An extended stretch of warm, dry days would be a big help to area farmers, Craig Askim, Mercer County Extension Agent said. Cool damp evenings have pushed an already late crop even further behind. Driving through the Mercer County countryside, one would think that harvest should be going great guns. Field after field of winter wheat and barley look dead ripe to the casual observer, yet only a fraction of the fields have been combined. Cool wet evenings are the culprit, Askim said.
