Winds brrring cold blast for ND
Last week was a winter roller coaster ride for North Dakota. But the chilling cold blast is normal for the state, and more could be on the way, National Weather Service meteorologist Todd Hamilton said.
“Compared to last year this is closer to normal,” he said.
An arctic air blast that pushed through the area Jan. 30 pushed temperatures down to a low of 17 below zero with wind chills near 50 below zero Thursday in Hazen, according to AccuWeather in State College, Penn. The thermometer showed a high of 6 below zero, though high winds kept the air 40 below zero.
