Zoning board restricts tree planting application
By Daniel Arens
Although planting trees is almost universally viewed as a good thing, it can provide some tricky logistics when the trees are located near a busy road.
This issue came before the Mercer County Planning and Zoning Board during a meeting Feb. 21. Austin Lindemann provided an application to plant five rows of trees along the east side of Highway 200, just north of the Crossroads where the north-south highway to Pick City intersects with the Alternate Highway 200 east-west route.
Lindemann’s hope is that the trees can provide a screen for his property at the location, helping to block traffic noise and to provide a wind buffer if he should put any kind of structure there in the future.
