"Making good men better." It is with this belief that the Masons of Fellowship Lodge No. 122 recently honored 56 upperclassmen from Washburn and Wilton for their scholastic achievements during the 52nd Annual Masonic Banquet.

According to Master of Ceremonies Mac Beaudry, Washburn, students are selected for the honor based on a point system – points are awarded and tallied based on students' letter grades and their enrollment in advanced classes. He said many of the students not only receive good grades, but excel in extracurricular activities as well.

The April 27 banquet took place at the Washburn Memorial Building and included a meal, which was served to award recipients and their families, and a short program where students were recognized for their achievements.

A few shy of 100 ninth through 12th graders from Washburn, Wilton, Turtle Lake-Mercer and Underwood were awarded certificates, with four-year recipients receiving a special Gold Honor Certificate. Beaudry and the four secondary principals – Glen Weinmann, Washburn; Andrew Jordan, Wilton; Daren Kurle, Turtle Lake-Mercer; and Lee Weisgarber, Underwood – presented the awards.
