A time of need, generosity

By Alyssa Schafer, Editor

While some North Dakotans are struggling to pay for Christmas gifts this holiday, others are struggling to pay for food. Members of the McLean County community are showing significant need this year, said McLean Family Resource Center Director Jenell Olson. Olson said there is an especially high demand for food and warm clothing. Donations like the one made by Great River Energy employees last week make a huge difference. Employees from the Coal Creek and Stanton stations gathered more than 100 coats during a two-week coat drive, said Rachel Retterath, communications specialist for GRE. The GRE coat donation was wonderful because the Resource Center always has a demand for winter outer wear, including coats, gloves, mittens and scarves, Olson said. This year, the Resource Center has a great need for quality children’s coats.
