A wild ride

Hundreds of attendees braved sun, wind and bucking bulls for this year’s annual Riverboat Days celebration, which boasted big numbers for both returning and first-time events.
The weekend’s schedule of events would need a bit of adjusting as blustery conditions swept in Friday night, but the additional wind didn’t seem to keep people away.
“Friday night events we saw a larger attendance at the kids inflatables and the firemen's feed/water rodeo than we had seen last year,” Suzy Jacobson, president of the Washburn Riverboat Days committee, said Tuesday.
Jacobson said she was amazed by the attendance throughout all three days of events, with Saturday packing in hundreds of people from beginning to end.
“Kids packed the memorial hall for the full 2 hours of carnival games, food vendors sold out of burgers, brats and other goodies,” Jacobson said. “And the street dance had more than 500+ that came through the gates.”
Jacobson said a pleasant surprise came from a new event this year - Bull-O-Rama, which was held near RDO off of Highway 83 Saturday afternoon. She said she had been a little concerned over how many tickets would be sold for the new addition to Riverboat Days.
