Board gets closer to splash pad plan

Although higher temperatures might have played into a lower turnout than normal for Wild in Wilton Day, organizers still were able to raise thousands of dollars to go toward future projects. According to Wilton Park Board Member Nicole Schurhamer, the July 16 event saw only about half the people it normally does. Although the event hasn’t been held every year, 2022 marked the 15th festival. “Overall, it was pretty good,” Schurhamer said. Wild in Wilton The day started out with a free breakfast at 8 a.m. and lasted through the night with Fat Guy DJ spinning music until 1 a.m. the next day. Schurhamer noted some of the highlights included the Wilton Fire Department doing a fire and water exercise, followed by children getting to look through and touch the trucks. Other events also included a parade, car and tractor show, inflatables, kids street games, corn hole tournament, paddle boat races, crafts and concessions, home run contest, horse shoe tournament, beer
garden, pub crawl and dancing.
