Assessment list confirmed
The Special Assessments Committee for Washburn confirmed the most recent assessment list, which will now be presented to the city commission in October.
During a public hearing Sept. 22 at the Washburn Memorial Building, the board approved the most recent assessment list, which was published in the Leader-News on Sept. 11 and Sept. 18.
According to that public notice, the assessment showed the cost of constructing the improvements for the Street Improvement District 2022-1, which have been levied against the lots or tracts of the land “especially benefitted by such improvements.”
The public notice stated the total amount being assessed is $1,907,678.86.
That was broken down as follows:
Construction- $1,966,100.86
Engineering - $315,500
Financing - $28,078
City contribution ($402,000)
With the assessments confirmed, the Washburn Commission will now make a decision on the list at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 13 at City Hall.
“… The confirmed list has been filed with the city auditor and is open for public inspection,” a public notice in the this week’s edition stated.
