Bluegrass goes Pink at Cross Ranch

The power of networking is helping to expand the bluegrass music opportunities in North Dakota. Local band, Cotton Wood, will be joined by an award winning group from North Carolina, Nu-Blu, at the second annual Bluegrass goes Pink concert at Cross Ranch State Park on July 20. The event, in support of breast cancer awareness, features great bluegrass music, all surrounded by pink. Pink balloons, pink-clad people, pink streamers, pink signs and more. There is so much pink that event organizer Jill Wiese was asked last year if the singer Pink would be coming. The answer is no. “It started as a way to just have a little remembrance,” Wiese said. It started as a way to remember and honor Wiese’s sister Barb Wild. A walking path was constructed in her honor and as a way to improve accessibility to the stage area. This year’s event is in honor of Kevin Frosaker, who died of cancer less than one year ago.
