Board works to rectify lack of permit, foundation

The property once made famous in Wilton for its exploding house recently became the chosen site for a manufactured home.

However, a building permit was not obtained and the house is not currently resting on a foundation, which amounts to two separate city ordinance violations.

Wilton City Commissioners invited property owners Durwin and Val Power to their Dec. 17 meeting, to discuss ways to quickly rectify the situation.

Mayor LeAnn Domonoske-Kellar said the city has received numerous complaints, with the home's lack of a foundation being their biggest gripe.

She asked Durwin where the building permit is, to which he replied, "It's there, in the window."

Domonoske-Kellar told him the permit in the window is a moving permit, not a building permit.
