Recently-hired Cardinals boys basketball coach Josh Sharp has clear designs on what he wants from his players and it all starts with getting better each day.

The 41-year-old’s dual role as full-time special education teacher and head basketball coach is a homecoming for the Bismarck-born Sharp, who spent most of his formative years in Washburn — a period that allowed him to grasp the importance of basketball in the local community.

Washburn’s undeniable passion for hoops is one of the factors that led him to take on the challenge of turning around a Cardinals team that has mostly played hard, but fallen short of expectations over the past two seasons.
