Undaunted by an early 4-0 deficit in the first inning the Washburn, Wilton-Wing, Center-Stanton Cardinals settled down thanks to a resilient effort by starting pitcher Alex Retterath (pictured left) and Landyn Miller’s power bat (pictured right), as the Wilton native smashed a towering 2-run blast to keep his team in the game versus Hettinger/Scranton/New England.

A Retterath RBI groundout and Tyler Kulzer bunt single knotted up the score in the fifth inning, followed by a Tyson Fricke game-winning double.

The Cardinals are scheduled to play three road games before the start of tournament play.
