Chip-seal project estimated at $500K-$600K; landfill access request also discussed
The Wilton City Commission approved a reimbursement program for certain water meter installations and discussed upcoming street maintenance projects during its regular meeting May 6.
According to meeting minutes published in the May 21 edition of the Emmons County Record, commissioners voted to reimburse homeowners up to $200 for water meters that were plumbed directly into water lines. Residents must submit receipts to qualify for the reimbursement.
The commission also heard from Jason Strand with A2S Engineering, who provided an estimated cost of $500,000 to $600,000 for a citywide chip-seal project. Strand said Burleigh County will no longer supply oil for municipalities, but noted he has identified other locations in Bismarck where the city can purchase oil for crack sealing.
In other business, the commission approved a commercial building permit for Duane Johnson to construct an addition at 404 N. Seventh St. The project had previously received approval from the Wilton Planning and Zoning Board.
Commissioners also approved the American Legion’s gaming site authorizations for County Line Café, Aces Tavern and Sportsmen Bar and Grill for the period of July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027.
During public comment, Bob Ell asked whether the American Legion and Wilton Lions Club could display memorabilia in the back room of Memorial Hall. Commissioners agreed to the request with the condition that items be installed after the space is painted later this summer.
