City gifts land to park board

A chunk of land that houses Washburn’s softball field and the Nettle Creek School House is now property of the city’s park board.
Washburn City Commissioners voted unanimously Monday night to gift the land to the Park Board, which plans to construct a concession stand adjacent to the field. The property is located off of Main Avenue and along Boat Ramp Road.
The park board plans to lay a 16-by-24 foot concrete pad for an 8-foot by 12-foot concession stand for the park. The initial request to construct the stand sparked conversation over the property and commissioners agreed to grant it to the park board.
