City talks softball field, pool improvements

City commissioners are considering some new additions and upgrades to the Washburn softball field and public pool.
Representatives of the Washburn Park Board approached the Washburn City Commission during its Nov. 12 meeting, asking for permission to install a concession stand at the softball field in town. The stand would need electrical hookups and be located on the south side of the field.
Commission President Larry Thomas suggested that the city deed the land to the park board so the board has authority to make these decisions autonomously. He said he would like to look at the properties and determine where park board land would extend to.
The representatives of the board agreed to discuss the potential deeding at a future meeting.
