County has a new agent

By Stu Merry, BHG News Service

Irene Graves is the new agent for McLean County. She’s fast getting acquainted with staff at the courthouse in Washburn. One of her newest best friends is a little square book. You see, to familiarize herself with residents and the lay of the county, Graves has been studying the McLean County plat book. Graves, who was introduced to county commissioners Tuesday morning, said she’s excited about her new job. “I am here to serve all aspects in ag,” she told the board. Graves, most recently from Sanborn County (Woonsocket) South Dakota, began Sept. 1. She takes over the duties of long-time county agent Pat Carpentier who retired earlier this year.
