Dakota Farms opening soon … really

By Michael Johnson, Editor

Dakota Farms in Washburn could be open the last week of July or first week of August if all goes as planned. The building was shut down after its inside was completely destroyed in a fire on July 16, 2007. Since that time, the community has anticipated the opening and many have watched closely as activity around the building has been steady over the last month. No one has been as anxious as the restaurant manager Kristy Reilly. She has managed Dakota Farms for about 10 years, she said. Since the fire she has been driving to Mandan to work at the Dakota Farms there. Reilly lives just on the other side of the river so having the Washburn restaurant open again will be a relief on the gas tank. The feeling of being able to serve up a great meal for the locals will also feel good, Reilly said.
