Dollars For Scholars host annual banquet bash

Frank Sinatra, Audrey Hepburn and Dean Martin graced the Memorial Hall March 15, during the annual Washburn Dollars For Scholars banquet. Granted, they were only life-sized cutouts, but they mingled with more than 260 guests or "stars" attending this year’s event.

Hooray for Hollywood was this year’s theme and was highlighted with a red carpet, special paparazzi greeting the stars as they arrived. It was Washburn’s very own version of The Oscars – complete with a large Oscar sculpture made by Martin Boganowski.

Steve Reiser was the man of the hour – acting as the night’s host and joke teller. Awards were given out for the best-dressed in the evening, a special Hollywood-themed bingo kept the crowd awaiting a winner and entertainment topped off the evening.

2013 Washburn High School graduate, Lexie Russell, sang for the crowd. She is honing her talents and has recently recorded her first batch of songs at a Bismarck studio. The Washburn High School Expressions Dance Team also gave a unique performance that complemented the evening’s theme.
