McLean County’s ag industry is set to expand a little bit, as the county commission approved a new feedlot to be located on a quarter of land near Falkirk Mine.
A 6,000-head operation is one step closer to launching in McLean County, as commissioners followed suit with the planning and zoning commission to approve a permit for the feedlot on Tuesday.
County Commissioner Doug Krebsbach motioned during Tuesday morning’s commission meeting to approve a conditional use permit for the feedlot, proposed by Dakota EcoBeef. Steve Lee gave a second.
McLean County State’s Attorney Ladd Erickson said he would like some grounds to be laid out in the permit, including a non-transfer agreement and the right for the county to enforce state law if the North Dakota Department of Health needed assistance overseeing the feedlot. Commissioners and EcoBeef representatives agreed to the terms, and the motion passed unanimously.
