Finally! Seventh Street opens

By Alyssa Schafer

After months of anticipation and a bit of anxiety, Washburn’s street project is finished. Paving is complete in all project areas, and there a just a few odds and ends that need to be finished, said Dave Thompson of Toman Engineering. "We’re done with all the weather-dependent work," he said. And not a minute too soon. Rapidly falling temperatures will soon make paving impossible. The North Dakota Department of Transportation requires a temperature of at least 38 degrees Fahrenheit for paving projects, but it is possible to successfully pave at any temperature above freezing. Thompson said it was at least 36 degrees Fahrenheit at all times while Bechtold Paving crews were paving Washburn’s streets.
