Fort future secured
The McLean County Historical Society has finalized the transfer of the Fort Mandan Replica property to the State Historical Society of North Dakota, marking a significant shift in stewardship for one of the region’s most recognizable historic sites.
At the society’s Feb. 12 meeting, President Cody Meadows outlined the details of the warranty deed conveying the land to the state. Meadows signed the document May 21, 2025, alongside representatives of the State Historical Society. The transfer had been discussed and approved in earlier meetings, and board members reaffirmed their support with a motion made by Meadows and seconded by board member Dan Wicklander. The motion passed unanimously.
