Hansen shines as distinguished student

Wearing a silver medallion around her neck, Kenady Hansen looks like a natural, as though she’s "been there, done that" a time or two.

She wears the medal humbly and with pride, although it doesn’t shine quite so brightly as the smile she wears on her face.

Kenady was one of the top six finalists in the state for this year’s North Dakota High School Activities Association (NDHSAA), Farmers Union Insurance Distinguished Student Award.

Sixty applications were received from across the state, including both Class A and Class B divisions. High school principals nominated deserving students for the award, with Washburn High School Principal Glen Weinmann giving Kenady his support in the form of a nomination.

The accolade comes with a list of eligibility requirements.

Applicants must be heading into their senior year and be an active participant in at least one NDHSAA–sponsored activity. The student must also be a good citizen and role model, as well as a contributor to their school and community.
