Hendrickson appointed new deputy auditor

The City of Washburn has a new deputy auditor.
Sharon Hendrickson was appointed to the position at a recommended rate of $15 per hour.
Hendrickson lives in Washburn and has a four-year accounting degree from the University of Mary.
Commissioner Larry Thomas said, "I have nothing against you (Hendrickson), personally, but I don’t remember the city authorizing to hire for this position."
The seat was listed for hire in the Leader-News for several weeks prior to the city’s monthly, Monday night meeting.
Thomas said he researched several area communities and found they each only hired one full-time position in their auditor offices.
