A North Dakota legislator not only toured McLean County water supply projects last week, but he did so with leaders from the Bureau of Reclamation in hopes to advance the process between parties. Sen. John Hoeven, R-North Dakota, and BOR Commissioner Camille Touton met in McLean County on July 29 to tour the Northwest Area Water Supply, Eastern North Dakota Alternate Water Supply and Red River
Valley Water Supply in hopes of advancing “critical water supply projects in North Dakota.” The BOR is responsible for management and development of large federal dams and diversion structures west of the Mississippi River, including the Garrison Dam. Northwest Area Water Supply Prior to Hoeven becoming senator for North Dakota, he served also served as governor, and during that time, worked to help advance the NAWS south of Washburn.
