Hometown pick

Brandon “Buddy” Lazier has always called Washburn home. As he begins his term as a city commissioner, he brings a lifetime of familiarity with the community he now represents.
Lazier, 36, grew up in Washburn and graduated from Washburn High School. He works as a mechanic at Coal Creek Station,
a job he said keeps him busy and close to the people and places he has known for decades.
“I chose to stay because all my family is here and work is a short drive away,” Lazier said. His connection to the community, he said, comes from the people and the familiarity built over a lifetime.
Lazier said he works many hours at the power plant simply because he enjoys staying active.
“I enjoy going to work and staying busy,” he said.
