The streets of Washburn were decorated to the nines with red, white and blue on Monday.

The 131st Memorial Day celebration began with an observance program at the Washburn Memorial Building.

The high school band, directed by Randy Hall, played several patriotic selections as the crowd filled the building.

Victor B. Wallin Post No. 12 Commander DeWayne Moran, was the Master of Ceremonies. He thanked the military men and women who served our country, giving their lives to protect our freedoms.

After the Presentation of Colors and the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance, Pastor Rick Torkelson delivered the invocation.

Washburn High School students Drew Petersen and Kenady Hanson recited patriotic poems in honor of our veterans.
