Intake work expected to begin this fall

Washburn City Comm. will finally get a look at what the construction of a new water intake will cost on Thursday, when bids for the project are scheduled to be opened.
A bid opening for a new intake is set for 2 p.m. on Thursday at City Hall, where commissioners and engineers will meet to discuss the long-anticipated project.
Eric Lothspeich of AE2S Engineers told commissioners last week he is waiting for final confirmation that a 75-25 match grant through the Department of Emergency Services will still be applicable to the project, which was originally set to start construction this spring before being delayed.
