Leader takes home nine newspaper awards

The Leader-News brought home nine awards from the 140th annual North Dakota Newspaper Association convention, which was held April 30 through May 1 at the Gateway to Science in Bismarck.
Each year, newspapers throughout North Dakota can enter their best work in the Better Newspaper Contest through multiple categories.
Newspaper leaders from other states judge the entries in each division selection a fi rst, second and third place in each category – where there is an extreme standout, judges can select a fourth place or honorable mention.
Divisions are determined by circulation size. The Leader-News competed in the 901 to 1,650 against 23 other newspapers including Turtle Mountain Times, The Beulah Beacon, Foster County Independent, Cavalier Chronicle, The Herald Press, Hazen Star, Hillsboro Banner, Kenmare News, Borderland Press, Ransom County Gazette, The Sargent County Teller, Napoleon Homestead, New Rockford Transcript, New Salem Journal, MHA Times, Turtle Mountain Star, Pierce County Tribune, Mountrail County Promoter, Steele Ozone and Kidder County Press, Wahpeton Daily News, McKenzie County Farmer and Williston Herald.
