Leaving on a jet plane...

If your future travel plans include fleeing the country for a much-needed getaway, don't forget to take care of one very important detail – securing your passport.

Lucky for you, McLean County now has two certified passport agents trained to not only answer your questions, but issue you the official travel document.

McLean County Recorder Beth Knutson and Heidi Anderson, deputy recorder, recently attended a free training session in Bowman; they passed with flying colors and began offering passport services the first of January.

How did this opportunity arise? Knutson said after attending a statewide conference last June, she learned that many recording offices and/or clerks of court provide passport services.

At the time, no such thing was being offered in Washburn or McLean County. Travelers in the area became accustomed to traveling to Stanton or Bismarck to apply for their official travel documents.
