Lindell: Track use not permitted

City attorney David Lindell has weighed in on whether operating a go-kart track in Washburn would qualify as a permitted use.
Members of the public and Washburn City Commission had mixed opinions on whether or not a go-kart track fell under the permitted uses in the city’s Highway Commercial District Zoning Ordinance. The zoning ordinance listed permitted uses such as "an amusement place including bowling alleys, athletic clubs, pool halls, and similar indoor facilities," and there was debate over whether outdoor facilities were included.
Lindell drafted a letter to the Washburn City Commission after recently being asked for his opinion on the matter, stating that he believed only indoor places fit the description.
