It was not uncommon to walk into the Lorentzen’s family home near Washburn and hear someone singing at the top of their lungs. This is what Amanda Lorentzen, one of 10 of the Lorentzens’ children, credits as her introduction to her love for music.

Amanda, now 20 years old, has been practicing music since she was a little girl, and that hard work was recently recognized by the Country Gospel Music Association by winning the Golden Heart Award for International New Female Artist of the Year.

The Country Gospel Music Association is a Christian based organization that recognizes music of people from all over North America for their talent. Each year they hold a talent based show where they give a handful of the best musicians an opportunity to share their music and love for Christ.

Amanda was a finalist in the Western Division and was asked to perform in Branson, Missouri at the organization’s talent showcase. There were 25 categories that included song writing, vocalist, children ministries and drama. The competitors performed for five days before the winners were decided.
