Local musician sings his way back home

By Michael Johnson, Editor

An emerging artist in the area is one with a very musical family. Madison Lorentzen, originally of Washburn, has moved back from Alaska to Washburn to pursue a life of sharing his gift of music with others. He plans to perform his next concert at the United Methodist Church in Washburn. Madison, 20, has his roots deep into the folk rock, Christian and acoustic genres. Playing since his early teen years, he has a Bob Dylan type feel to his music as he works his way through a tune, strumming his guitar and blowing smooth rhythms through a harmonica. It took him some time to realize it, but the life of a musician is exactly what God wants him to do, according to Lorentzen. He started getting into music at age 12 when his uncle gave him a guitar. Madison’s parents are John and Darcy Lorentzen of Washburn. In the household he continued to teach himself the chords of some of his favorite artists.
