Students from across the county were honored Monday night at the fifty-fourth annual Masonic Banquet, held at the Washburn Memorial Building.
Dinner was served to students, parents and administrators from Washburn, Wilton, Underwood and Turtle Lake during the banquet Monday, before honors were awarded to the upperclassmen.
“This is one of those unique occasions where students are truly recognized for their scholastic achievements,” Master Master of Ceremonies Mac Beaudry said to the crowd. “It isn’t about basketball, football, baseball or speech. It is about education.”
Students are selected for the honor based on a point system – points are awarded and tallied based on students’ letter grades and their enrollment in advanced classes.
Around a hundred students from the county took home certificates, with several others receiving Gold Honor Certificates for earning the honor all four years of high school.
