Locals attend Dollars for Scholars conference
Jayne Pochant, Annette Weisgarber, Julie Broderick and Jim Kaiser of the Washburn Area Dollars for Scholars attended the Fifth Annual North Dakota Dollars for Scholars Conference held in Bismarck on Oct. 27. Chapter representatives learned about endowment programs and tax credits, Dollars for Scholars computer training, and fund raising. Ashley Giedd, 2012 Washburn High School graduate, was a special guest at the luncheon program. Ashley was honored as a 2012 recipient of a $15,000 Edson and Margaret Larson Foundation Leadership Scholarships awarded by ND Dollars for Scholars. For attending the conference, Washburn DFS will receive a $1,000 scholarship donation from Bank of North Dakota (BND). The scholarship, will provide $500 to a student applying to the local chapter and $500 designated for a student already attending a higher education institution.
