‘Oh the places you’ll go...’

"You’re off to great places, today is your day. Your mountain is waiting, so...get on your way."

This coming Sunday will be "the big day" for 32 Washburn and Wilton seniors; donning their graduation attire, the students will walk the stage to receive their hard-earned high school diplomas.

Wilton will go first, with commencement set for 12:30 p.m., Sunday, May 24, at the high school gymnasium. Fourteen students make up Wilton’s Class of 2015, with Valedictorian Seth Boechler and Salutatorian Raylee Backman set to deliver speeches to the crowd of friends and loved ones gathered in celebration. The senior class motto is, "Challenge accepted."

The Washburn senior class takes to the stage next, with commencement scheduled for 2 p.m., Sunday, May 24, in the high school’s "new gym." Valedictorian Patrick Pochant and Salutatorian Shane Giedd are among the 18 students eager to march to the beat of "Pomp and Circumstance." The Cardinals chose the following for their class motto: "The greatest pleasure in life is doing what people say you cannot do."

And with that, one last word of advice from Dr. Seuss (Oh the Places You’ll Go) to the soon-to-be graduates: "You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose."
