A fundraiser being held in Washburn next month is aiming to provide funding for the county’s new resource center building.
Purse-a-Palooza, hosted by the McLean Family Resource Center, will take place March 3 at the Washburn Memorial Building. The event, which will put proceeds toward paying off the new resource center in Washburn, will include a purse silent auction, raffle and freewill donation luncheon.
McLean Family Resource Center board president Pamela Link said this is the first time the organization has put on an event like this, and that she’s hoping for a good turnout.
“We are hoping to pack the place out with people having fun, bidding on purses and enjoying the day,” Link said.
Link said the new resource center, which is mid-construction and expected to be complete this summer, is approximately half funded at this point.
“The full price of the building is $613,500,” Link said earlier this month. “To date we have raised a little more than $313,000 through grants and donations.”
