‘The cost of education doesn’t go down’

Taxes going up about $2.25 for residents; $2.50 for commercial for Wilton School District with budget approval

Wilton taxpayers will see only a small increase as the school looks to raise mills slightly to cover a portion of the 2023 budget. Based on tax values, Wilton Public Schools Superintendent Andrew Jordan said residents in the district will see about a $2.25 increase while commercial properties will see a $2.50 increase, as the mill will increase from 87.38 to 88.88. The district can go up to 12 mills without needing a public vote, Wilton Public Schools Superintendent Andrew Jordan explained to the Wilton Board of Directors at its budget
hearing Sept. 21. “I think we have been very responsible (with taxpayer money),” Jordan said. 2023 budget During the Sept. 21 budget
hearing, Jordan walked the Board of Education through each of the funds, which was unanimously passed in the open meeting following the hearing. In the building fund, Jordan said there is about $125,000 projected to be brought in based on tax values in the district.
