A Wilton man was arrested on multiple charges after not paying for gasoline and later taking off from a traffic stop.
McLean County Sheriff’s Department officers pulled over a vehicle south of Washburn April 7 for not having license plates displayed. When the driver exited the vehicle, a gold Chevrolet Impala, one passenger got in the driver’s seat and drove away. A vehicle matching the description of the suspect car was reported for doing a gas drive off in Turtle Lake shortly after.
On April 8, authorities were notified of a car matching the description driving erratically on U.S. Highway 83 North of Bismarck before another call came in advising the vehicle was stuck in a field near Underwood. When officers arrived on scene, a male and female attempted to run, but were apprehended. Deputies then checked the VIN number of the vehicle, which came back as stolen out of Bismarck.
The suspects, Perry Toineeta and Bonita Little Dog, said they had taken the vehicle from Space Aliens in Bismarck because the owner was drunk. Little Dog said they were going to bring it back to the owner the next day.
