McLean Co. approves request to hire legal secretary

"I’d like to clear the chairs out of here, get down on my knees and beg. I need help, I need to get the pressure off my office."

McLean County State’s Attorney Ladd Erickson recently pleaded with county commissioners to authorize the hiring of a legal secretary for his office to assist with day-to-day duties, such as finger printing. "I need someone in the bullpen for when Marcella (Albers) retires," he said.

The candidate would not be required to have a background in law, as training would be provided. Computer and good organizational skills are a must.

Erickson said – if approved – he’d like the flexibility to advertise the position as full- or part-time, leaving the door wide open for all candidates.

County Auditor Les Korgel said, "Financially, I would say, at this point, it’s a tough thing, but I think Ladd needs to get the process going...to get an ad in the paper and get someone hired."

Commissioner Doug Krebsbach said to Erickson, "Take one of my checks, I don’t care. Get yourself some help."
