McLean County food pantry calls on community for help

By Danielle Abbott

Editor’s Note: This is the first of a two-part series on the McLean County Resource Center and their food pantry service. It is a well-known fact that the American economy is currently in a less than favorable situation. And it is no secret that with the poor economy, comes countless other burdens. Every American is experiencing the setbacks of these circumstances, including high gas prices, increased cost of food and simply higher prices across the board. With the cost of living so suddenly and steadily increasing, the American income is not rising to meet the requirements for every day necessities. Countless Americans are now faced with pinching pennies and stretching their dollars. The time of free spending has turned into frugal living. Even the Americans that are making enough to survive comfortably are still feeling the financial pull of our dwindling economy. When money becomes tight for our country, everyone begins to look into their own pocketbooks, wondering how they will survive and where to carefully spend their money.
