Washburn could be losing one organization, and maybe even two.
But the members of both will be asked to endorse the idea of joining forces into a new organization.
WAEDA director Tana Larsen’s last day is Thursday (today). That resignation caused a look at the future of WAEDA and the Civic Club with the possibility of combining the two into one organization served by a part-time staff and board.
A dozen Civic Club, WAEDA and city officials met Feb. 20 to consider the possibilities.
Newly Voigt, WAEDA president, tendered his resignation effective March 1. Donna Sommer, treasurer, said she will stay on until WAEDA is dissolved. Tony Thoreson and Joe Sheldon agreed to stay on the WAEDA board during a dissolution, but Thorson said they wouldn’t be a lot of help because both are fairly new board members. Paul Sannes, another WAEDA board member, is not seeking re-election to another term.
Thoreson said, “We can talk about all this stuff, but who’s going to be here to do it?”
